Chippewas Insider has learned that linebacker Cody Lopez of Plainfield (Ill.) North High School has verbally committed to Central Michigan University.
Lopez, a 6-foot-1, 215-pounder, becomes the second known verbal commitment in the Chippewas 2011 recruiting class, joining fellow Illinois prep standout, tight end Blake Serpa, in pledging CMU.
Lopez chose the Chippewas over offers and interest from Northern Illinois, Western Michigan,Toledo, Akron, Illinois and Michigan State.
