The Central Michigan football program could be close to landing perhaps the top high school quarterback in the state of Michigan's 2011 class.
Chippewas Insider has learned that quarterback Alex Niznak of Ithaca (Mich.) High School is reportedly set to make a verbal commitment to CMU.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Niznak was expected to attend a one-day camp at CMU today and a source close to the situation indicated that Niznak could commit to the Chippewas as early as today.
Niznak, rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com, also holds offers from Toledo, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. He's also being recruited by a host of Big Ten schools, including Michigan State, Wisconsin and Iowa.
