Bearcats Offer 2012 Defensive Lineman

Class of 2012 defensive lineman talks about picking up an offer from the Bearcats.

It did not take long for Cincinnati to return to Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Bearcats, who already have a former Warrior on the roster in Adrien Robinson, also have a verbal pledge in Nick Temple. Now they are after Sheldon Day.

How does Day feel about the Bearcats offer?

"Yea, I got offered today. I do not really know that much about Cincinnati. But Coach Coombs gave me a DVD about the program today. I have yet to watch it, but I'm looking forward to learning more."

With Temple still at Warren Central, Sheldon has now talked with the future Bearcat about the program.

"Yes we have talked about it. Nick makes it seem like it is a great place."

One thing Sheldon has already learned about is the energy level of Kerry Coombs.

"He's very exciting; I don't know how to really describe him."

On the field, Sheldon feels he has some advantages to his game. However, he also knows there is work to be done.

"I really read keys very well. If someone tries to reach me, I can tell from the second they make their move what they are doing. I can read offensive linemen stances and if they are leaning, I can tell they are pulling. I know I need to get bigger size wise (6-foot-2, 265-pounds)."

In the classroom, Sheldon also excels. While the Bearcats are not the first to offer, they are the first BCS offer.

"I'm a straight "A" student. I also have an offer from Western Michigan."

While Sheldon has watched those ahead of him go through the recruiting process. He is now excited his turn has come.

"Yes, I'm very excited that it is now my turn. Last year it was Kiaro and Chris, so I guess it is my turn right now."

Bearcat Insider will continue to follow the developments of Sheldon's recruiting and his interest in Cincinnati.
