"My current plan is still to announce on December 19, but that could change still, because I still could be taking a last official visit. The last official visit would be between a couple of schools who are coming in late, and Georgia Tech is in it still. I was supposed to go there this weekend, but we had a last minute change."
Smith says that he will only choose from amongst the schools that he made visits to, which means that Cincinnati, Boston College, Purdue and West Virginia are the four current schools that are currently in the mix, although Georgia Tech or one of the other schools could enter the equation if he is able to set up an official visit before December 19. He already taken visits to Cincinnati, Boston College and Purdue, and will be traveling to Morgantown to take in West Virginia this weekend.
So does Smith have a leader with decision day rapidly approaching?
"Actually, the three schools I have already been to are pretty even right now. All three show an opportunity to come in and contribute right away. Distance could come into play because my mom has been down my back about it, but I'm not really sure. All three have great academic situations, so you can't go wrong there. This past season, Cincinnati has probably done the best, I would say, so that could be a factor. I'm not really sure though, but it could be. The head coach there promised me I would wear number 10, which is my high school number."
Stay tuned for more on Smith's decision.
