Once a verbal commit to the University of Memphis, Dawson is now wide open. He says that he is looking at the same schools that he was interested in before committing to the Tigers. Those schools include Arkansas, Cincinnati, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, with Memphis still being firmly in the mix as well.
Dawson is still in the process of setting up his official visits, as he would like to take all five of his available visits before making a decision. Georgia will be receiving an official visit this Friday, while there are tentative plans for a trip to Ole Miss on January 20. In the meantime, Dawson just recently finished up his first official visit, which was to the University of Cincinnati.
"I went to Cincinnati like two weeks ago," Dawson said. "We just went around the campus and they played UConn the next day, so we went to the game and stuff."
This was not the first trip to Cincinnati for Dawson, who has already visited UC three times in the past. He says that he is very familiar with the coaching staff and he talks to them on a regular basis.
"They always just tell me how much they want me. They call me once a week and I call them sometimes. My recruiting coach is Coach (Mark) Elder. We have a good relationship. He's pretty cool."
While most 2012 prospects are starting to wrap up their recruitment, it appears that Dawson's recruitment could go quite a bit longer than most.
"I'm not really favoring anybody right now. I won't to take all five of my officials, so my decision will probably be after Signing Day."
