Two freshmen decide to transfer

Two offensive freshmen have decided to leave the program, and will not play in the team's bowl game.

Receiver Shaquille Washington and quarterback Steven Weatherford are no longer on the Bearcats roster, and will transfer.

Big things were expected from Washington, who was a part of the rotation early of the season. He hauled in three passes for 14 yards in five games and fell behind Alex Chisum in the rotation. Chris Moore was stellar in fall practice before an injury cost him the season, and figures to be ahead of Washington once healed.

The receiving corps still has plenty of depth as the top two receivers, Anthony McClung and Kenbrell Thompkins, will he still be on the roster. In addition to the returners, Cincinnati has four talented receivers already committed.

However, what does Washington departure mean for former high school teammate Jeremy Graves, who is one of the four pass catchers committed.

Weatherford is simply caught in a numbers game with a plethora of young signal callers on the roster. He was behind four underclassmen and the Bearcats have two commitments – Bennie Coney and Trenton Norvell – at quarterback.
