Maclean Talks Bearcats & More

Butch Jones heads back into Michigan to battle for linebacker Luck Maclean out of Grand Blanc, Michigan. Maclean was in Ann Arbor on Saturday taking part in the Adidas Invitational and spoke with Bearcat Insider.

For Luke Maclean the Adidas Invitational was sort of like a coming out party. While listed as an outside linebacker, Maclean has seen several teams talk with him about becoming a defensive end in college. Saturday, Maclean looked to show his abilities by battling several top offensive linemen in one-on-one drills.

How did Maclean feel about his day when it was over?

"It was great," said Maclean. "It was the first time I've ever come to a competition camp as a defensive end. So I got a lot of good reps (One-on-One) against some offensive linemen. There was a lot of good competition; good energy and they always throw great camps here at Max-X."

Early in the process the Grand Blanc (MI) Community product has picked up there offers.

"I have offers from Cincinnati, Western Michigan, Central Michigan and the University of Buffalo," said Maclean. "Recruiting wise it's early in the season and I'm hearing from a lot of schools, so you've just got to take your time and figure out what place is best for you."

With his Bearcats offer in hand, Maclean recently visited the UC campus.

"I went down to Cincinnati for a visit and they really like me as a linebacker and defensive end," explained Maclean. "They like how they can be creative as a defensive coordinator with someone who can rush the passer and then drop back into the zone."

Right now Maclean is in no hurry and just putting together summer plans.

Bearcat Insider will continue to follow the progress of Maclean in the coming months.
