Bearcats Showing Interest In Lane

One player quickly moving up the recruiting charts this spring is hearing from the Bearcats. Learn more about Jerome Lane.

If the name Jerome Lane rings a bell there is a good chance you are thinking about backboard shattering former Pitt Panther and first round NBA draft selection Jerome Lane.

However, if you following University of Cincinnati football recruiting there is a good chance Lane's name has entered into a conversation and for good reason.

Lane, who plays for Akron (OH) Firestone stands 6-foot-4, 215-pounds and is quickly seeing college programs take interest this spring with some solid combine performances.

One such performance came at the Adidas Invitational where Lane came away happy with his performance.

"I came up here because I knew there was going to be good talent," said Lane. "My goal was to come up here and play hard while earning some exposure."

Exposure is definitely something Lane accomplished as he quickly earned an offer from Washington following his top performance.

"I feel I did real well," said Lane. "My forty was 4.4 and my shuttle was like a 4.5."

Besides the offer from Washington, Lane is hearing from Ohio State, Michigan, Minnesota and Cincinnati.

While Lane is excited about the early interest he's also not getting too hyped as he knows the summer will provide him some great opportunities.

"Right now all the schools are at the same level," stressed Lane. "I'll be on the Raw Talent bus tour this summer and we're planning on going to a lot of different schools."

Will the Bearcats soon be looking to offer? We'll continue to check back with Lane as the process heats up.
