Position: Tight End
Hometown: Cleveland Heights, OH
High School: Cleveland Heights
After practice on Thursday, I was able to talk with Cincinnati senior tight end Travis Kelce on his camp and the upcoming season.
Q: How have you developed chemistry with Munchie at quarterback?
A: "All the quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends have built great relationships. That's just how it is here at Cincinnati Whomever's turn it is to be that target, they're ready to step up Munchie has a comfortability with whomever is open."
Q: What style of play are you most comfortable with? Being split out? Or being a more physical, blocking type of tight end?
A: "Being comfortable is just being on the field for me. It really doesn't matter, whatever the team needs me to do I'm willing to do, whether is blocking or route running."
Q: How pumped up are you guys for Pitt and knowing the game is being nationally televised?
A: "We treat every opponent with respect and we don't want to take anybody lightly, but the big games you definitely get a little more pumped up for."< P> Q: How has practicing in the heat helped prepare you guys for the season?
A: "That's Cincinnati for you, you never know if it's going to be hot or cold I'm from Cleveland so I pretty much get all of the cold you can get up there. [Playing in the heat] builds you up; It helps us to prepare for the season and get used to the heat playing at home."
Q: Has it hit you yet that this is your senior year?
A: "I'm just taking it one game at a time. I know this is my last go around, I've been taking it practice by practice to be honest. I haven't looked forward one bit. We've got Pittsburgh on the sixth and that's what I'm focused on right now."
