Instant Analysis: UC Beats Marshall.

We take a look at some notes from UC's 72-56 victory over Marshall.

-Titus Rubles needs to get more playing time. The combo forward brings aggressiveness to this team that is missing from some of the other frontcourt players. While he tends to play out of control, his energy of the bench is a welcome change.

-Sean Kilpatrick had a rough first half. The junior guard was held to just two points and struggled to find his shot.

-Cincinnati's defense was a forced to be reckoned with once again, forcing 11 turnovers in the first half. The Bearcats dominated the game in the first half, but due to a poor shooting performance, only led by four at halftime.

-The Bearcats usually reliable three-point shooting went cold in the first half. UC finished 1-6 during the first 20 minutes, and only attempted two free throws.

-After starting 1-6 from three in the first half, UC hit 5-11 in the second, turning a four-point half time lead into 16-point victory. -Cashmere Wright is the clear leader of this team. The senior guard put on a show in the second half, settling down this Bearcat team and finishing with 14 points and three assists. With Wright, it's his calming presence that is so valuable to this team. UC was pressing on offense in the first half, rushing to score and struggling to get into a rhythm. Wright paced this team, got other players going, then scored when necessary.

-While Titus Rubles only had two points and went 0-5 from the field, his energy and ability to rebound were big factors in the game. Rubles a matchup nightmare for most power forwards and his athleticism is impressive.

-Cheikh Mbdoj continues to impress me. He has great hands around the basket and is a great finisher. Mbdoj made all four of his field goals and finished with four rebounds.

-UC won the rebound margin, finished at +9 with a 34 to 25 advantage. While the Bearcats frontcourt may struggle some this season, their size is a huge advantage and winning the rebound is hugely important.

-Justin Jackson had a great game as well. Similar to Titus Rubles, his energy is huge to getting this offense going. He finished with 10 points on 5-6 shooting.
