Copeland High On Bearcats

One of the top prospects on Cincinnati's recruiting board is local product Vayante Copeland of Thurgood Marshall High School in Dayton, Ohio. Bearcat Insider caught up with Copeland about his thoughts on the Bearcats.

There is no mistaking new Cincinnati head coach Tommy Tuberville has brought in a solid group of coaches to recruit talent to the Bearcats program.

For Dayton (Ohio) Thurgood Marshall four-star cornerback Vayante Copeland, his recruiting coach is one of the main reasons the Bearcats remain as one of his top programs.

"Coach (Steve) Clinkscale is one of my dudes," said Copeland. "We talk some football, but when we talk we talk a lot more about being a man and about life."

The Bearcats have also done a great job of stressing the importance they feel Copeland has on their recruiting class.

"I know I'm high on their list as a defensive back," explained Copeland. "So they are high on my list of schools."

The time Copeland is sharing with Coach Clinkscale has carried over into his personal life.

"I really enjoy our conversations," said Copeland. "In my school I'm part of a leadership program and looked upon as a role model. Coach Clink has encouraged in this area as me and a couple of other guys take a few freshman and monitor how they are doing and encourage them to do the right things by being a role model."

While the battle to get Copeland in the class will not be an easy one, it looks like Coach Clinkscale has the Bearcats in a good position as they battle Michigan State, West Virginia, Duke and Louisville.
