Bearcats Roll Pass Memphis 34-21

The Cincinnati Bearcats are now on a three-game winning streak with tonight's 34-21 victory over the Memphis Tigers. The win moves the Bearcats to 6-2; 3-1 in AAC and makes the team bowl eligible.

Senior quarterback Brendon Kay led the way for the Bearcats going 27 of 35 for 321 yards and one touchdown with one interception. The 300 yards passing marks the second game the senior signal caller has hit 300 yards.

Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch went 17 of 33 for 140 yards and two touchdowns with one interception but was unable to match the Bearcats offensive output.

The Tigers scored first late in the first quarter on a Lynch seven yard pass to Tevin Jones. Cincinnati would come back early within the second quarter with a Jordan Luallen 13 yard run, tying the game at 7-7.

With three-minutes left before the half, Junior Ralph Abernathy took it 19 yards for a rushing touchdown giving the Cats a 14-7 lead going into halftime.

It was a three headed monster day in the running game for the Bearcats tonight. In the third quarter Junior Tion Green gave the Cats a 21-7 lead on his two-yard touchdown run. Green finished the game with 24 yards and two touchdowns while Abernathy added 46 yards and Luallen 41 yards in the rushing attack.

Memphis would later inch closer in the third on a 7 yard pass from Lynch to Brandon Hayes, making it 21-14. Hayes finish with 17 carries, 76 yards and one rushing touchdown for the Tigers.

The fourth quarter was all the Bearcats needed to keep the lead and finish off the Tigers. Kay hooked up with Anthony McClung for a 24 yard touchdown pass. McClung had 9 catches, 98 yards, as Shaq Washington added 11 catches, 96 yards on the night.

It was a great win for UC on the road in Memphis at the Liberty Bowl tonight. Now they look ahead at next week's matchup vs. SMU at Nippert Stadium. With four games left UC looks to continue to position themselves for a shot at a conference champion, as well as, Bowl Season.
