New Mexico Hands Bearcats First Loss

Bearcats suffer first loss of the season at the hands of New Mexico Lobos 63-54. Unable to come up with the victory on their first road trip of the season.

Cincinnati Bearcats struggled to find their groove shooting, 29.5-percent from the field for the game, it's lowest shooting performance of the season. Senior guard Sean Kilpatrick led UC with 19 points, giving him 1,601 for his career, moving him into ninth all-time and making him just the ninth player in program history to eclipse 1,600 points.

New Mexico was led by Cameron Baristow, who scored 24 points and 13 rebounds. The Lobos shot 50-percent from the field, while outscoring UC in the paint 34-24. UC defense did help keep them in the game forcing 15 turnovers, scoring 19 points off those miscues.

Senior forward Justin Jackson finished the game with 10 points and six rebounds, foul trouble was a issue for him. Jackson had to leave the game with four fouls with 10:02 remaining. Freshman guard Troy Caupain continues too improve, finishing with 11 points giving UC help from its youth.

UC records goes to 7-1 after this loss and up next is the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Classic Saturday against Xavier at US Bank Arena in downtown Cincinnati, tip off is at 8 p.m.
