Bearcats Beat Middle Tennessee 69-48

Bearcats improved their record to 9-2 after beating Middle Tennessee 69-48. With a huge 2nd half the Bearcats prove to be too much for the Blue Raiders.

Cincinnati defense has been one of the most consistent components of this years team. UC forced Middle Tennessee to 18 turnovers and held them to 26.7-percent shooting from the field.

Bearcats clearly struggled in the first half after going on a close to 5 minute scoring drought, before senior Sean Kilpatrick hit a three pointer at the 7:26 mark. UC would head into halftime tied at 21 with the Blue Raiders.

In the second half UC just dominated scoring 48 points, matching their season high in points scored in one half. Lead by Kilpatrick who matched his season high of 23 points, while adding five rebounds and two assists. Kilpatrick also passed Louis Banks in the UC career scoring list at number 8, now with 1,650 career points.

"We're a team that likes getting out in transition and attacking the rim," said Kilpatrick. "If we can get deflections and steals, that can ignite our fast break. We saw that the score was a little too close in the second half. We tried to stop them on the defensive end and get out and run."

Senior Justin Jackson added his third career double-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. Jackson entered today's game ranked 22nd nationally with 3.0 blocks per game.

Bearcats will face Chicago State Monday, December 23rd at Fifth Third Bank. Check out full post game conference from today's game with Kilpatrick and Jackson.
