Bearcats Squeeze Pass Temple 80-76

Bearcats benched stepped up big, increasing Cincinnati's win streak to 12 game and seeing another streak ended in today's win over Temple.

Sean Kilpatrick scored a season-high 29 points, while adding 8 rebounds in No. 15 Cincinnati's 80-76 victory on the road against Temple. UC improved their record to 19-2; 8-0 in the American Athletic Conference, increasing their win streak to 12 straight games. UC saw their nation long streak of holding an opponent under 70 points snapped today.

The Bearcats loss a key part of the team today as Justin Jackson seem to roll his ankle at the 14:25 mark of the game. Jackson would warm up after halftime but not return to the game.

Shaquille Thomas filled in for the loss of Jackson, scoring 15 points with four rebounds, while Titus Rubles finished with nine points and six rebounds. It was the bench play of the freshmen Troy Caupain and Kevin Johnson that help keep UC ahead. Caupain finish the game scoring eight points with nine assists and Johnson scoring seven points.

Temple led by Dalton Pepper snapped a Bearcats 19-point lead in the second half. Pepper finish the game with a career-high 33 points on 10-21 shooting and 8-14 from three point range. Owls now on a eight game losing streak, records stands at 5-13; 0-7 in conference play.

The Bearcats are off to their best start since 2001-02 and their best start in league play since they went 8-0 in Conference USA that same season. Bearcats remain on top of the conference and will face a tough Louisville (17-3; 6-1) team on Thursday at the KFC Yum! Center.
