Tyrell Gilbert is ready to prove to the world why he should not be overlooked. Gilbert brings UC a ton of athleticism to this 2014 class.

Cincinnati kept one home in Tyrell Gilbert out of Princeton HS (Cincinnati, OH). The 6-foot-1, 200 Gilbert played quarterback for the Vikings but will make the change to safety for UC.

Ranked 37th on's 2014 Top 50 Ohio Rankings, he finished the season with 2,500-plus all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns. Insider caught up with Gilbert today, asked him how ready was he and what was the deciding factor for choosing UC?

"Let's turn up and win ball games," Gilbert said. "the coaches and the whole Bearcat Nation helped me make my decision."

Coach Tommy Tuberville discussed how important Gilbert is to the team and city.

"Easily the most underrated prospect in the city of Cincinnati," Tuberville explained. "Tyrell was a one-man wrecking crew at Princeton High School and makes our staff dream up different possibilities for his athleticism. He will be the next guy to carry the banner for the City of Cincinnati as he proves that great players from this city belong at UC."
