SMU Routs No. 7 Bearcats 76-55

Tough road loss ends Bearcats 15-game win streak; as SMU routs UC 76-55. Bearcats have not suffered a loss since the Crosstown Classic vs Xavier back in December. Bearcats now are 22-3; 11-1 in the AAC.

Cincinnati Bearcats (22-3; 11-1) hasn't loss since dropping back-to-back games against New Mexico and Xavier in December. SMU (19-5; 8-3 AAC) have now beaten three Top 25 opponents and now are 7-0 this season in the Moody Coliseum. Ending the Bearcats win streak at 15-games.

SMU went on a 11-0 run after UC cut the gap to 48-41 midway through the second half. Nick Russell led the Mustangs with 15 points, three rebounds; coming up with two big steals that led breakaway baskets. Nic Moore would finish the game with 14 points and knocked down a 3-pointer in that SMU run.

UC would only get within seven points of SMU, the closet they had been since the three minutes left in the first half. The Bearcats shot a miserable 35-percent (17-48) from the field, 17-percent (4-24) from 3-point range and committed 19 turnovers. Sean Kilpatrick finished with 22 points, six rebounds and three assist.

The Mustangs received huge support from their bench tonight, as Ben Moore added 15 points with five rebounds and Cannen Cunningham had 11 points with three rebounds.

UC other top scorers were Justin Jackson with 10 points, nine rebounds and Titus Rubles had 8 points with five rebounds. Everything UC tried to do, it seem SMU had an answer for it and more. With the game well in hand the Mustangs student section began to chant "Over-rated" and the bench of SMU yelled "Under-rated!"

The Bearcats will head back to Cincinnati with a week to pick up the pieces left in Dallas by tonight's loss. UC will next hit the court Feb. 15th against Houston at 3 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena.
