UC Senior Kilpatrick Named to Naismith

Annouced today, Senior Kilpatrick Named to Naismith Trophy Top 30 List. Kilpatrick leads the American Athletic Conference in scoring with 19.8 points per game.

University of Cincinnati senior guard Sean Kilpatrick has been named to the Naismith Trophy Midseason Top 30 list the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Thursday. It marks the second consecutive year Kilpatrick has been tabbed to the midseason list.

Kilpatrick leads the American Athletic Conference in scoring with 19.8 points per game. He also ranks among the league leaders in three-pointers made (second at 2.7 per game), free-throw shooting (third at 85.7 percent) and steals (15th at 1.4). Nationally, Kilpatrick ranks 18th with 495 points, 30th with 67 three-pointers and 30th with 132 free throws this season. His 287 career three-pointers rank seventh in the nation while his 1,939 career points are the ninth-most in the country.

Kilpatrick was tabbed as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week on Monday. He averaged 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.0 three-pointers in a win against UConn and a loss against SMU. For the next game against the Cougars of Houston, Kilpatrick could achieve three milestones on Saturday. As soon as he steps on the court Saturday, he will set the school record for consecutive games played previously held by Keith Gregor with his 132nd game. If Kilpatrick plays for 15 minutes, he will be the second player in UC history to record at least 4,000 minutes, joining Deonta Vaughn (4,310 minutes [2007-10].) Also, he just needs five more points to become the third player in school history to score as many as 500 points in three consecutive seasons, joining the great Oscar Robertson and Danny Fortson.

Kilpatrick is on pace to finish his career as only the second player in school history with 2,000 career points (Oscar Robertson produced 2,973 points from 1958-60).
