Dowell Excited by Bearcats Offer

Power running back Andrew Dowell was one of four Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward football prospects to receive scholarship offers from Cincinnati Co-Defensive Coordinator Robert Prunty on Thursday.

It was a big day from Andrew Dowell and three of his teammates as Cincinnati jumped in extending scholarships to the foursome.

"I was offered a scholarship by the University of Cincinnati today," said an excited Dowell. "Actually, they offered four members from St. Ed's so we might be looking to start a little pipeline down to Cincinnati.

"Coach (Robert) Prunty talked to my head coach and asked him to have me give him a call. When I called, he offered me on the phone today."

With his new offer, Dowell is looking forward to learning more about the Bearcats as he feels he could be a perfect fit for Eddie Gran's offense.

"I've not been down to UC," continued Dowell. But I like the Bearcats as they are not too far from home and I like what they are doing in the program with some of the guys they have there. I know they like a big back and I'm that type of player with the ability to get around the edge but still able to run in between the tackles."

Will Dowell be looking to visit Cincinnati in the near future?

"I talked with Coach Prunty about that and with us playing basketball, it's been tough for us to get to Junior Days," he said. "So we're looking to visit for a spring practice when the season is over."
