Pickard Is A Two-Way Machine

Two-way player Jake Pickard out of Millburn (NJ) High School talks latest offer from UC. Plus the connection he his with the area of Cincinnati.

Millburn High tight end/defensive end Jake Pickard had one offer on the table from Louisville, that was until Cincinnati came calling. What makes this offer special for Pickard is his mothers connection to the area.

"It feels absolutely amazing to get an offer from UC. My mom had actually grown up in Cincinnati," he explained. "So I've been watching them for awhile."

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Pickard was named all conference defensive player this past season. He played both sides of the ball for Millburn at the tight end and defensive end position. Being a two-way player makes him an asset to any team he choices and he says UC likes him for those reasons.

"Coaches at UC are telling me I can play both TE and DE, which was why they like me so much," Pickard said. "It's all a matter of which coach wants me more, whether it be defense or offense. But I'm willing to play either position to have whatever team I play for be successful."

For a guy his size and with the ability he has, you can except he runs on a high motor. Pickard let Insider know what UC fans would get from a player of his caliber.

"UC fans can except a player whose engine does not stop," he said. "Does anything and everything for his team to win and be successful."

Pickard looks forward to visiting UC campus sometime this month.

"We are discussing a visit on the 29th (of March), but if that does not work I will visit over the summer."
