When you have a father that's played the game, there are those benefits and at times those downsides. For 6-foot-4 and 265-pound Tarrick Thomas the fact is he wants to make his own name. Thomas is the son of former Florida State and NFL offensive tackle Tarlos Thomas. Thomas says his father has taught him a lot but making his own name is important.
"He's taught me the little things that goes into being a good offensive lineman," Thomas said about his father. "I want to get out his footsteps and make a name for myself," he added.
Thomas just recently picked up the Cincinnati offer after receiving offers from Alabama, Georgia Tech, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, Eastern Carolina, Marshall, Southern Mississippi and USF. Asked what this offer means to him, Thomas said.
"It means that all my hard work is paying off," he said. "They've been sending me mail invites to games and stopping by the school to see me."
Not only does Thomas have aspirations to make a name for himself but dreams of getting to a national championship. He tells Insider he will do all he can to make that dream come true for not only himself but Bearcat fans.
"They can except a player that's going to give his all, going to do all I can to get the win and get a national championship."
Thomas has has his senior year ahead, "I look forward to spending my last year of high school football with my boys and winning state."
