Spring Recruiting Update

Spring break is here and the recruiting season is in full swing. Recently UC offered prospects from the Tallahassee, FL area in Amos P. Godby HS linebacker Danny Thomas and North Florida Christian wide receiver Christian Philpott. Insider talked with them and takes a look at these prospects.

Tallahassee has become a hot bed for recruiting for Coach Tommy Tuberville and staff at Cincinnati. With as many as nine scholarship offers extended to prospects in that area of Florida alone. UC has spent a good deal of solid recruiting in the Florida and other southern areas.

Danny Thomas is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker out of Amos P. Godby HS with UC and Georgia Tech siting up the top of his recruiting list. In his junior campaign Thomas racked up 114 tackles, 43 for loss and 15 sacks. Thomas spoke on the offer from the Bearcats, "It's a honor to have any offer. I'm doing my best to go up there and see UC."

When asked what made UC and GT his top schools, "GT basically talked about after football and education. UC was getting playing time right away," he said. "Everything...the coach...playing time...just everything," Thomas added on what impresses him about UC's program. Thomas knows whichever school he choices it will be a way to better his life.

North Florida Christian wide receiver Christian Philpott is a big target standing at 6-foot-4, 190-pound. Currently holding offers from likes of Cincinnati, East Carolina, South Florida, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina State, Penn State and Texas Tech so far in this recruiting process. Philpott spoke about the UC offer to Insider, "It means a lot to get an offer from a big school like Cincinnati."

Philpott enjoying the fruits of his labor thus far, "recruiting has been really good so far, been getting a lot of looks by some top schools," he said. With senior year coming up Philpott looks to have a college choice made by the start.
