Bearcats Engineering Interest from Ferns

The past couple of weeks have been big for sophomore linebacker Brendan Ferns as he's now added five scholarship offers. Tuesday, Cincinnati became offer number five for the Ohio native.

With early offers from Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia and Minnesota, Brendan Ferns is off to a fast start. Tuesday night, Ferns found another program extending an offer.

"I just got off the phone with Cincinnati," said Ferns. "I talked with Coach (Hank) Hughes and he just got done watching my film and said he really liked it and they offered. He just wants to get me to come down to Cincinnati maybe this summer."

While Ferns has never visited the Cincinnati campus, he's has some ties to the university in his family.

"I've had a few family members that have graduated from Cincinnati," he said. "My cousin and uncle both graduated from Cincinnati with engineering degrees. I've seen how well they have done and that encourages me to get down and see Cincinnati.

What else did Coach Hughes have to say about the Bearcats interest?

"He just talked about Cincinnati and their past history," continued Ferns. "He said they are ranked like fourth right now in wins over the past nine years and also talked about some of the linebackers that have gone from there to the NFL.

"He also talked about wanting me down there and how he felt he could help me out down the road to become a better linebacker."
