McGarr Talks Bearcats Pledge

Under the radar offensive lineman Tyler McGarr talks about the commitment to Cincinnati he made on Wednesday morning.

It didn’t take Hamilton (GA) Harris County senior offensive lineman Tyler McGarr long to see his future as a Cincinnati Bearcat.

“I came up in July for a camp,” said McGarr. “Before I went up I was getting a lot of mail from Cincinnati but not really any close contact. Me and a couple of other guys went up with our head coach and did camp and I did enough to impress them and they offered me a couple of days later.

“Coach (Blake) Rolan had been very informative and persistent with me and just about every time I talk with him, I also talk with Coach (Darren) Hiller. What sold me was mainly the coaching staff as I felt I really connected with them.”

Having also received offers from the Air Force Academy and UT Chattanoogo, McGarr is looking forward to seeing and learning more about his future home and the engineering program at Cincinnati.

“When I was there I got a tour of the Lindner Center and that was about it,” he said. “Right now we’re planning to come up for a visit in October as we’ve got a Thursday night game and UC plays on Saturday.”

One question many have asked since McGarr made his pledge was his future along the offensive line. A high school tackle, McGarr is not too worried about a move to center.

“I played center from REC ball until the ninth grade,” he explained. “They moved me out to tackle because they couldn’t see over me. But this year they are moving me to guard because we’ve changed our offense and I’m doing a lot of pulling.”
