Tuesday afternoon was a great day for Bearcat fans and Sean Kilpatrick. SK aka Sean Kilpatrick was on more of the influential players of the last decade to help get the Bearcats basketball program back on track like in the 90’s and 00’s. He is second in all-time scoring only behind the great Oscar Robertson in school history.
Kilpatrick’s last season was the 2013-14 season and during his current two years as a professional he has bounced from the D-League and the NBA a few times. Because of a knee injury SK got a late start his rookie season and was signed by the Santa Cruz Warriors of the D-League after having a solid Summer League with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was traded to the Delaware 87ers where he played the remaining of the year. He received a call up by the Minnesota Timberwolves which resulted in a 10 day contract. During his brief tenure with the Timberwolves he played in 4 games, averaged 5.5 point per game while shooting 35% from the floor.
His time in Minnesota earned him a shot with the Milwaukee Bucks Summer League team. He played well in the summer league which led to a camp invite with the New Orleans Pelicans which he was one of the final preseason cuts. After getting released he landed back in Delaware where he was has been tearing it up on a consistent basis. In 22 games he is averaging 27.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.1 steals. SK is doing this while shooting 47.7% from the field, 44.5% from three and 78.9% from the free throw line.
The Denver Nuggets have signed SK to a 10 day contract so hopefully he can perform good enough to get another 10 day contract and maybe turn that into a rest of the season contract. If it’s not with the Nuggets hopefully another NBA team allows SK to stick for the rest of the year.
The folks here at BCI wish you the best of luck.
