Sunday at Fifth Third Arena against SMU at Noon will be the last regular season home game for all of the seniors. It has been a different journey for all the of the senior three of the four are junior college transfers only Shaq Thomas has been with the program his entire collegiate life.
Shaq Thomas has been with the program five years and has been one of the most athletic guys we have seen in Fifth Third Arena since James “Flight” White. His athleticism didn’t turn out the monster career some projected, but Thomas has been a solid player throughout. He has been battling injuries the last half of the season which has slowed him down when he seemed to heading for a strong finish to his career.
Thomas has made the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll twice.
During five years with the program (he redshirted so technically four playing years) his stat line reads as 5.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 44.6% from the field, 60% from the foul line and 31.3% from three.
His career high in points came 1/21/16 against Memphis with 18.
His career high in rebounds came 12/6/15 against Morgan State with 9.
His career high in assists came 1/23/14 against UCF with 5.
His career high in steals came 11/15/15 against Robert Morris with 5.
