Sunday at Fifth Third Arena against SMU at Noon will be the last regular season home game for all of the seniors. It has been a different journey for all the of the senior three of the four are junior college transfers only Shaq Thomas has been with the program his entire collegiate life.
Octavius Ellis has been at times the heart and soul of the team; they feed off of his energy on a nightly basis. Ellis has been a defensive anchor during his team with the Bearcats as a shot blocker and shot changer on a nightly basis. He has also been very solid on the offense end.
Ellis started his career with UC, but transferred to Trinity Valley College due to Medical Hardship and came back for his junior and senior season.
Ellis was the Barclays Center Classic MVP (2015), Preseason First Time American Athletic Conference (2015-16), Riley Wallace All-American Team (2014-15), Second Team AAC (2014-15) and received AAC Weekly Honor Roll seven times.
He had a career stat line of 9.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 55.4% from the field and 66.7% from the foul line.
His career high in points came 2/25/15 against UCF with 20.
His career high in rebounds came 2/27/16 against ECU with 14.
