Marcus Ottey speaks on UC visit and schools that are pursuing him

Sunday was Senior Day for the Cincinnati Bearcats, but they also had a few recruits in the house to see their four seniors get honored along with Jarron Cumberland and Nysier Brooks (current UC commits) they had a surprise in the audience as Canadian point guard Marcus Ottey was in the house to watch UC versus SMU.

Bearcat Insider: How was your visit to Cincinnati on Sunday?

Marcus Ottey: My visit to Cincinnati was great I really enjoyed it. Got a chance to watch the team play SMU where they got a really good win. I liked the campus, the environment and the vibe I got from the players. They're all really cool.

Bearcat Insider: When did Cincinnati pop up on your radar?

Marcus Ottey: I would say they popped up on my radar towards the end of 2015 after they saw me play at the National Prep Showcase where I played really well.

Bearcat Insider: Which teams are on in hot pursuit of you right now? (Offers and/or who you have high on your list)

Marcus Ottey: Top schools that I am considering right now who have offered me are, University of Illinois at Chicago, Wichita State, University of Cincinnati, and I've  been talking to Ohio State, Vanderbilt and recently Seton Hall about coming down for a visit.

Bearcat Insider: Do you have any relationships with any of the players currently on the team or the staff?

Marcus Ottey: Have no relationships with any players on the team, but they are guys I can definitely see myself being friends with.

Bearcat Insider: Did Jarron and Nysier help influence you to visit?

Marcus Ottey: No, everything was arranged through coach Savino and Cronin

Bearcat Insider: How do you think your game would fit in if you came to Cincinnati?

Marcus Ottey: I think my game would fit well because I feel I can bring a lot of energy and ball pressure on defense.

Bearcat Insider: Is there anybody you try to mode your game after?

Marcus Ottey: I wouldn't say model my game exactly, but I try to play with the same type of intensity and explosives as Westbrook and John Wall because I'm so athletic which helps me get to the rim or penetrate and create for others.

Bearcat Insider: For those that haven't seen you play what are a few strengths in your game?

Marcus Ottey: I'm really explosive and I'm able to get to the rack and finish over defenders or create for other players. I'm strong with the ball especially in transition and I like to take good shots so I take what the defense gives me.
