Sophomore receiver Avery Johnson is just happy to be back on the field

Bearcat Insider was able to catch up with sophomore wide receiver Avery Johnson after the teams fifth practice. The Bearcats are at Higher Ground for camp and Johnson spoke on getting better, his excitement for September 1st and more. Check out the full interview!

Cincinnati Bearcats  wide receiver Avery Johnson, a transfer from Louisiana State University spoke with Bearcat Insider following a recent practice.

Johnson had to sit out last season because he transferred, but is really looking forward to this upcoming season and being a difference maker on the field. Here’s what he had to say:

 Bearcat Insider: How does it feel being able to be back on the field after having to sit out last year due to you transferring?

Johnson: “It feels good, I’m excited about it. I just look forward to getting better with my teammates and I can’t wait to play my first game.”

Bearcat Insider: What role do you see yourself playing this season, having lost six key receivers this past season?

Johnson: “It feels good to have my opportunity and whatever my role is out on the field I am going to just do it to the best of my ability to help this team win.”

Bearcat Insider: What do you like and dislike about camp Higher Ground?

Johnson: “I really like the food, I like to eat. I really don’t dislike anything about it. We are able to bond together, we’re away from everyone and just focusing on football.”
