Bearcat Insider had the opportunity to chat with senior running back Deionte Buckley following practice at camp Higher Ground. Having to sit out last season, Buckley is eager to play this season. He’s ready to make a big impact offensively. Check out what he had to say:

Bearcat Insider: How do you think you played this past Saturday at the scrimmage?

Buckley: “I think I did very well. O line was blocking great, just all around the offensive line pushing and me running the ball and going hard north and south.”

Bearcat Insider: How do you think the offense did overall?

Buckley: “I think it’s always not as bad as it seems. We went and watched film, actually the offense did pretty well. We just have to keep converting on difficult catches, running the ball hard, making our right blocks, and making our right reads.”

Bearcat Insider: What kind of goals do you have set for yourself this season?

Buckley: “The type of goals I have is just being a team player, being our hard nose running back, running through people, running through their faces like Marshawn Lynch, and keeping that edge of being physical.”

Bearcat Insider: Having to sit out last season, how does it feel to be back on the field?

Buckley: “It’s a special feeling. I went through a lot and just to be able to play again and be back around the team is a special feeling and I am enjoying every second of it.”

Bearcat Insider: What’s the biggest difference between your former school, Indiana State and The University of Cincinnati?

Buckley: “It’s a major difference. The fan love, the one team thing, the fans coming to support and just an all-around family feel. ISU didn’t have that and that’s what I missed and I’m glad to be back.”
