Howard Watkins, a high school senior at Colerain High School will soon have to choose what school he is going to further his education and football career at. Last Thursday Watkins, made his 5th visit to Clifton to watch the Bearcats beat UT-Martin. Living about only 30 minutes from campus, he has the luxury of visiting often. Watkins has multiple offers, Cincinnati being one of them. He also has offers from Louisville, Illinois, Indiana, and more.
Watkins knows he has a big decision to make, but right now he is focused on ruling the Greater Miami Conference. Colerain's football program has been off to a great start, winning two tough games. He feels that his team is getting better every day and they are becoming more confident. And when it comes to the books, he plans on dominating in that area as well. Once at college he wants to study either kinesiology, criminal justice, or business.
Every time Watkins has stepped foot onto Cincinnati's campus he has felt the love. "The coaching staff and the players really make me feel like I'm at home," says Watkins "and that's important to me." He appreciates how genuine, helpful, and honest the coaching staff and academic staff is with him. He can tell that they really care about his success. Coach Taylor and coach Koonz have both wrote letters to him expressing their interest. He also told Bearcat Insider that they talked to him about how he had a strong possibility of playing his first year.
What does all this mean to Howard Watkins? A 17 year old high school senior receiving multiple offers and having schools like Cincinnati really expressing their interest in him must mean a lot. "My dad has always told me that God is going to bless me, just be prepared," said Watkins "I'm thankful and happy to see my hard work is paying off."
Howard Watkins would be a great fit for the Bearcats defense and Bearcat Insider wishes Watkins the best of luck!
