J.T. Smith of Bearcat Insider gives out offensive game balls for the No. 6 Houston Cougars game

The Cincinnati Bearcats hosted the No. 6 Houston Cougars to Nippert Stadium in front of a sellout crowd and loss 40-16, the score was misleading if you didn’t watch the game, but Bearcat Insider is going to give out some game balls on the offensive side of the ball.

The Bearcats offense wasn’t as sharp as it was a week against the Boilermakers and overall it was their undoing. A couple of huge opportunities in the first half that resulted in no pointed ended up biting them in the fourth quarter. They held their own against the sixth ranked team in the country for 54 minutes, but at the end the Cougars pulled away. They only ran for 30 yards on 25 carries, which is something that won't get it done in any game.

Check out who received game balls for Thursday performance.

Game ball number one: Devin Gray, wide receiver- 4 catches for 97 yards and 1 touchdown

Gray had another strong game. His 61 yard touchdown in the first quarter was huge, it tied the game at 7. His stats could’ve been more if Moore would’ve put more air on the ball in the previous series as Gray had his defender beat for what looked like another touchdown. His speed will continue to be an asset to the Bearcats all season.

Game ball number two: Nate Cole, wide receiver- 9 catches for 60 yards and 1 touchdown

Cole is Moore’s security blanket and the connection was rolling again on Thursday. He scored the go ahead touchdown and it happened to be the last Bearcat score. He has received a game ball from Bearcat Insider every game. So far this season he has been the model of consistency. Keep up the good work Nate.

Because of the total output of the offense, I only gave out two game balls, I’m pretty sure this unit will bounce back against Miami of Ohio next Saturday. Bearcat Insider looks forward to giving out more game balls.
