2017 Centerville (OH) High School offensive lineman Michael Purcell had a blast during Cincinnati visit

2017 Centerville (OH) High School offensive lineman Michael Purcell had a great time during his Cincinnati visit Thursday. Purcell was able to come down and visit during a huge nationally televised game between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the No. 6 Houston Cougars. Check out what he had to say about his visit.

Bearcat Insider: How was your visit to Thursday’s game versus Houston?

Purcell: It was awesome I loved the atmosphere and the campus was buzzing. Unfortunately they couldn’t pull threw in the 4th quarter, but I loved it.

Bearcat Insider: So which coach on the coaching staff have you been in contact with the most?

Purcell: (Co-Defensive Coordinator) Coach (Jeff) Koonz for the most part.

Bearcat Insider: Have they offered you yet?

Purcell: No, no scholarship yet. I went to the campus and they said they were going to at the end of the season so I guess they are still evaluating me.

Bearcat Insider: If the Bearcats were to make you an offer what exactly would it mean to you?

Purcell: It would mean a lot. I probably would commit. I have always been a UC fan, grew up in Cincinnati then transferred to Centerville so I have always been a Bearcat fan. I like the program Tuberville is building.

Bearcat Insider: How is your season going with Centerville?

Purcell: Not too good in first game we lost 13-6 to Fairfield. Not trying to sound cocky, but other than me our offensive line is not very good. We only had 26 rushing yards on 30 carries in the first game. Second game we beat Lakota West we put up 52 points bounced back pretty well. Third game lost and had 7 turnovers. You can’t win with 7 turnovers. And then Friday we lost on a last second hail mary.

Bearcat Insider: For you personally Michael how would you like to improve on your game as you prepare to enter your freshman season in college next year?

Purcell: Mainly my pass blocking. I’m more of a run blocking guy. I have the attitude and effort I just have to get better with my technique on pass blocking. This only my second year playing guard because in previous years I played defensive tackle.

Bearcat Insider: What other schools have shown interest in you?

Purcell: Mostly MAC (Mid-American Conference) schools. Other schools include Pittsburgh, Indiana, Iowa State.
