The Cincinnati Bearcats junior forward Kyle Washington has been tearing it up during the early part of the season, showing off skills on both sides of the floor he has earned American Athletic Conference Weekly Awards two weeks in a row and it doesn't seem like something that will stop in the near future. For the second consecutive week, University of Cincinnati junior forward Kyle Washington (Champlin, Minn./NC State) has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. He averaged a team-high 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 70.0 percent (14 of 20) from the field in a pair of Bearcats’ victories last week.
Washington led UC to a 70-65 home win over Samford on Wednesday, posting his fourth double-double in five games with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 12 rebounds. He contributed 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting Saturday in a 91-68 home win against Lipscomb.
The left-hander earned the same award on Nov. 21 after earning Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tip-Off All-Tournament Team honors while averaging 19.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks against then-No. 21 Rhode Island and Penn State. He set career highs for points (23) and rebounds (17) in the two games at Mohegan Sun.
Washington has scored in double figures in all six games this season for the Bearcats, with four double-doubles while averaging 16.8 points and 9.3 rebounds and shooting 58.6 percent (41 of 70) from the field this season.
He enters the week ranked among The American’s leaders in rebounds (third at 9.3), blocks (fifth at 1.8), field goal percentage (eighth at .586) and scoring (ninth at 16.8 points).
