The Cincinnati Bearcats are 17-2 overall and 7-0 in the AAC because of the steady play of Troy Caupain. Monday Troy made the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after helping his Bearcats to a 2-0 week. He is hitting stride at a perfect time with the Crosstown Shootout (Xavier) coming up on Thursday.
University of Cincinnati senior guard Troy Caupain (Midlothian, Va./Cosby HS) has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll the league announced Monday.
Caupain helped Cincinnati remain perfect in conference play last week, averaging a team-high 16.0 points while shooting 10-of-20 from the field with 5.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds in a pair of victories.
The senior guard scored a team-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting with nine rebounds and seven assists in the Bearcats’ 81-74 home win over Temple on Wednesday. He scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting with a pair of three-pointers and four assists at Tulane on Saturday.
Caupain leads a balanced Bearcats’ scoring attack since the start of league play, averaging a team-high 11.9 points while shooting 46.4 percent (26 of 56) from the field and 48.1 percent (13 of 27) from three-point range. He is also averaging 5.4 rebounds and a 4.0-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in conference action.
For the season, Caupain is averaging 10.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He entered Sunday ranked first in the league and 11th in the nation with a 3.4-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. His 443 career assists were tied for 18th most in the nation.
