No. 14 Cincinnati beat Connecticut, 82-68 to push streak to 14 in a row

The No. 14 Cincinnati Bearcats defeated the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday. The Bearcats wore throwback uniforms to honor the 1992 Final Four team.

The Cincinnati Bearcats welcomed the Connecticut Huskies into Fifth Third Arena on a cold Saturday in February. The Bearcats honored their 1992 Final Four team before and during the game, it marked their 25th anniversary.

In the first half the first 16 minutes were centered around Kyle Washington, Gary Clark and Jarron Cumberland as they combined for the first 22 points, Washington had 13, Cumberland had 5 and Clark had 4. Quadri Moore had 5 points in the final 4 minutes of the first half. Cincinnati won the battle on the boards 17-14 and had a 34-26 lead at the half.

The Bearcats went to another level during the second half, Washington, Cumberland and Clark kept rolling. Clark had a personal 8-0 run with 2 threes and a layup to put the Bearcats up 54-35. Washington and Cumberland hit back to back threes put them up 69-43 with 9:21 left. Connecticut didn’t lie down, but they never got within striking distance. The Bearcats won 82-68 with Jacob Evans going scoreless and Troy Caupain only scoring 7 points.

Clark had 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Washington had 27 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Cumberland chipped in with 15 points.

Cincinnati is now 21-2 overall and 10-0 in the American Athletic Conference.

They play UCF at Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday at 9 pm.
