No. 18 Cincinnati closes out Fifth Third Arena with a win over Houston, 65-47 for 26th home win in a row

No. 18 Cincinnati Bearcats welcomed the Houston Cougars in to shut down Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats won 65-47 closing out the arena in style, for their 26th win in a row at home.

No. 18 Cincinnati Bearcats welcomed the Houston Cougars into Fifth Third (Senior Night, the last game in the old Fifth Third Arena and the last home game of the season). Thursday night was the last home game for seniors Troy Caupain, Kevin Johnson and Zack Tobler. Would this trio go out as winners?

Mick Cronin threw in a wrinkle for the start of the game starting Zack Tobler in place of Gary Clark and “Tobler Time” scored the first bucket. Jarron Cumberland, Jacob Evans and Kevin Johnson all had 7 points in the first half. Cincinnati dominated the boards 21-12 and shot 47% from the field in the first half.

In the second half the Bearcats continued to a do a great job containing Damyean Dotson and Rob Gray holding the scoring duo to 9 of 23 from the field for the game. Holding the Cougars to 37.5% from the field and dominating the glass 40-26, they didn't want to close out Fifth Third Arena with a loss. The home team had three players in double digits, led by Gary Clark who had 14 points. Caupain had 11 points and Cumberland finished with 10 points.  Offensively this wasn't their best game, but they way they played on defense it negated any negative vibes the offense gave.

Caupain is 3 assists away from 500 for his career, I'm willing to bet he get that on Sunday.

Cincinnati is now 26-4 overall and 15-2 in the AAC with 26 straight wins at home.

They travel to Connecticut on Sunday.
