Jarron Cumberland and Gary Clark earned Rookie of the Week and Weekly Honor Roll respectively. Cumberland has been great off the bench all year for the Bearcats and had another great week. Clark has stepped up the latter part of the season and played very well last week.

University of Cincinnati freshman Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington HS) earned American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week accolades and junior Gary Clark (Clayton, N.C./Clayton High School) was named to the league’s Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Cumberland ranked second to Clark among all Bearcats in scoring last week, averaging 12.5 points while shooting 62.5 percent (10 of 16) from the field in 23.0 minutes off the bench during UC’s two victories.
He poured in 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting during a 67-47 road win at UConn on Sunday after posting 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting in a 65-47 home victory against Houston on Thursday.
For the season, Cumberland is averaging 7.8 points and shooting 48.4 percent (77 of 159) from the field while averaging 18.0 minutes as a reserve. He is tied with sophomore Jacob Evans for team-high honors in scoring over the last three games, pouring in 12.0 points while shooting a team-best 54.2 percent (13 of 24) from the field.
He was named The American’s Player of the Week on Jan. 30. He has received the league’s Rookie of the Week honors twice previously (Dec. 19, Jan. 2).
Clark averaged a double-double last week with a team-high 15.5 points and team-best 10.5 rebounds in a pair of Bearcats wins last week. He also shot a team-high 62.5 percent (10 of 16) from the field.
Clark registered his seventh double-double of the season with a game-high 17 points and tied a season-high with 14 rebounds at UConn on Sunday. He tallied a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds at home against Houston on Thursday.
The junior forward is averaging 10.4 points and a team-best 8.0 rebounds this season. Since the start of February (last 10 games), Clark ranks second on the team in scoring (11.7 points) and first in rebounds (9.8).
Entering the American Championship, Clark ranked among the league leaders in offensive rebounds (second at 3.2), field goal percentage (third at .538), rebounds (fifth at 8.0) and blocks (11th at 1.2).
Earlier this season, Clark was named the league’s Player of the Week on Dec. 26. He also was tabbed to the league’s Weekly Honor Roll on Feb. 6 and Feb. 20.
