The UC Lady Bearcats are having a tough season under Head Coach Laurie Pirtle. Friday night they fell to Houston in C-USA action.

Opening the game with a burst, the Lady Cougars used the scoring of Sancho Lyttle (21 points, 11 boards) and Joann Overstreet (18 points, 7 boards) to defeat the Bearcats 63-56. While the outcome didn't go the Bearcats way, the team showed improvement against C-USA's top team the 14-3 Cougars.

The Bearcats placed two players in double figures as Karen Twehues led the way with 16 points, 3 steals, and 3 boards. The Sophomore guard from Minusio, Switzerland keeps showing Bearcat fans that she's the real deal. Also scoring in double figures was Micah Harvey who posted 14 points. As a team the Bearcats shot 39.3% from the field and only 50% from the charity stripe.

Houston hit for 40% from the field and 70% from the line. The game saw the Bearcats commit 21 personal fouls and give the Cougars 21 points from the line. The Bearcats only saw the line a total of 8 times and came away with only 4 points.

If the team had controlled their fouls and looked at shooting from inside of the 3-point line they could have won this game. But instead they post another loss and look for answers on Sunday as TCU comes into town. Game time is set for 1 p.m. ET. And fans are encouraged to bring a child to the game. UC is holding a "Take a Kid to the Game Day" in Fifth Third Arena. For every adult ticket purchased one child may enter at no cost.
