There was more than just basketball happening at the University of Cincinnati this weekend. Bearcat football was busy working on getting commitments and giving out offers.

Bearcat Insider has learned the Bearcat Football program has picked up another verbal commitment to an already great recruiting class. Today during the Wake Forest/ UC basketball game, Cincinnati Elder quarterback Craig Carey gave the Bearcat Football program his verbal commitment.

Carey is no stranger to the Bearcats as his older brother just finished his playing career this past season.

Carey, who held offers from Pittsburgh, Indiana and the Bearcats, was reported to be taking an official visit this weekend at IU. Instead Carey attended the Bearcats basketball game and gave his commitment.

The Bearcats have been working hard on this class. With the move into the Big East and becoming a BCS member school, Coach Dantonio and his staff are laying the foundation for many years to come.

Bearcat Insider welcomes Craig into the Bearcat family and look forward to covering his Bearcat career.

HEIGHT: 6'4     WEIGHT: 220 LBS.

BREAKDOWN: With size and arm strength Craig Carey stands second to none when looking at Ohio quarterbacks. While he doesn't get the press or the star rating of his GCL counterpart Rob Schoenhoft, Carey is no second fiddle athlete. Standing 6'4 220 lbs. Carey has a frame that will become a top quarterback. With 4.7 speed he's able to escape the pocket and with his size he's able to take a pounding.

Stuck behind Elder graduate Rob Florian during the Panthers Back-to-Back OHSAA title runs, Carey played TE. This season he made the move to his natural position quarterback and helped the Panthers into the playoffs with a 7-3 record.
