Cincinnati has used a bowl game victory and its upcoming entrance into
the Big East to forge one of its strongest recruiting classes in some
time. The momentum continues as the Bearcats reached into Florida and
picked up another verbal pledge.

Bunnell (Fla.) Flagler-Palm Coast running back/safety Marshawn Gilyard,
6-0 and 190 pounds, saw enough during his (1/14) official visit to make
him want to be a part of what Mark Dantonio is building in Cincinnati.
Upon returning home from his official visit Gilyard, committed to the

"I like what their building up there, it's a program going in the right
direction," Gilyard said.

Gilyard turned away offers from Pittsburgh, Toledo, Marshall, Middle
Tennessee State, and Indiana State.

Despite missing most of his senior season, Gilyard amassed 821 yards on
118 carries. He was recently named Honorable Mention Class 5A All-State.
He was a two-time All-Conference selection, and participated in the
Funcoast Football Classic: a battle of all-stars from Flagler and
Volusia counties. Gilyard ran for 161 yards during the all-star game.
During his junior campaign Gilyard ran for 1,606 yards.
