Dominick is 6'1" and 198 pounds. He estimated that he runs the 40 yard dash in 4.7 seconds. These may not be eye popping numbers, but Dominick believes his strength as a quarterback lies in his legs. "My running ability is my strength, but I can also throw the ball on the run. We threw a lot in practice. We just didn't need to throw much in games."
The recruiting process can be a crazy one, but it was more simple than many think for Dominick. After Findley negated his letter of intent for basketball at the Goodmans' request, he committed to UC without taking any other visits.
Ohio University and Frank Solich offered Dominick a scholarship after his verbal to UC, but he wasn't interested. His mind was set on attending UC. "I really didn't expect to play football in college, but it got to be more fun this season." There were several reasons why he chose Cincinnati. "My Dad (Don Goodman) playing there was a little of the reason. Also I wanted to stay close to home so my family and friends could watch me play. Terrill (Byrd) and Andre (Revels) going to UC played into it too."
Many people wonder how well a high school option quarterback will fare in Don Treadwell's offensive system. When Dominick was asked what other positions he'd like to play, he mentioned receiver as his first option but didn't rule out playing somewhere in the defensive secondary.
The people involved with the Big 33 game have assured Dominick that he will get the chance to show off his throwing skills, something he is anxious to do. " I know I need to work on my progressions, but I'll be in the shotgun and able to run and throw."
The Bearcat coaching staff has not talked to Dominick about redshirting so he's hoping to contribute on the field next season. "Hopefully I'll be playing next year. I want to go in and work hard and show what I can do." Rumors have swirled about Dominick's playing basketball at UC. He is Colerain's all time leading scorer. When asked about the rumor, Dominick replied, "That's something I'm going to talk over with my parents. I've thought about it, but no decisions have been made."
In 1983, Don Goodman's Bearcats upset Penn State on September 10 with Don playing a major role in the game. Dominick's Bearcats will play Penn State once again on September 10th. Could history repeat with Dominick playing a major role in the victory? Bearcat football fans sure hope so.
