Trent Cole may have ended his Bearcat career, but another top prospect is headed to Clifton from Xenia High School.

Xenia High School should be on UC's Christmas list.  Four years ago, Xenia sent Trent Cole to Cincinnati.  This year the Bucs sent Cedric Tolbert.  Cedric is a 6 foot 195 pound defensive back that runs an estimated 4.4 or 4.5 forty.  He starred as both a defensive back and a running back at Xenia, but the Bearcats plan to use Cedric's talents at either cornerback or safety.

Cedric chose UC for several reasons.  "Cincinnati was close to home, and it has a great atmosphere.  I loved the coaches and could see myself fitting in real nice."

This athlete's journey to college was not an easy one.  Cedric tore his ACL in the last game of his junior season but recovered well enough to attract attention from Big 10 schools like Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana.

Although Cedric will miss carrying the pigskin, he's a team oriented guy. "I'll definitely miss running the football, but I'll do whatever I can to get on the field and help the team out.  Hopefully, I'll be one of the freshmen that can come in and play."

Good students seem to be the norm in this class, and Cedric is no exception. "I've already qualified.  I got a 20 on my ACT, and I have a 3.3 GPA.  I want to major in either business or pharmaceuticals."

UC's entering the Big East played a role in Cedric's decision to come to Clifton.  "The Big East was definitely a factor.  They get to play for a national championship, play on TV, and play top competition."

I seem to remember that Trent Cole had an intimidating nickname like Hacksaw or Scrapiron, no not strapon, although that would be intimidating too.  Not so with Cedric.  His nicknames are Cub and Tango.  Cedric's Dad's nickname is Bear so it makes sense that Cedric would be Cub.  The origin of Tango is a little more vague.  Cedric started laughing and would only say that it came from an embarrassing childhood event.  The exact event is a mystery, but I'm sure none of his Bearcat teammates or coaches will EVER call him Tango.  Right?
