The Bearcats have extended another offer to a top prospect. Who is this player the Bearcat staff is looking to fill a much needed position? Bearcat Insider has the scoop.

Over the past few weeks this top Ohio offensive line prospect has been making the rounds to camps and combines looking for offers from his hard work. While the Bearcats aren't the first to make an official offer, they are the latest to put their name in the hat.

During the past two weeks Smith has traveled to the Akron Combine, West Virginia University Senior Camp and Miami of Ohio Senior Camp. Along the way Jarrod Smith of Fairborn High School (Fairborn, Ohio) has seen coaches and scouts take notice of his size, speed, and toughness.

At 6-foot-4 and 267 pounds, Smith posted some impressive numbers at the Akron Combine.

40-Yard Dash: 5.22 - Short Shuttle: 4.78

Vertical Jump: 25.0" - 3-Cone: 7.84 - Broad Jump: 8-1

But while Smith opened eyes with his numbers, it's his work during one-on-one drills that has opened the eyes of many. I saw Smith during both the Akron Combine and Miami of Ohio camp. At each one he didn't back down from any of the top prospects he lined up against. He even suffered a shiner in Akron when during a drill a hand or fist hit him square. While he showed his father the bump, he didn't miss a single rep and even stepped in and took extra reps.

If you're asking why you haven't heard about Smith until now, just look at the deep talent pool at the offensive line position to see how such a great talent could be overlooked.

I've had the chance to speak with Jarrod at two of the three events and found him to be a great young man who knows he's blessed to have this chance to trade football for a college education. With the Bearcats looking to take offensive linemen in this class, Smith would be a great one to pick up in the process.

Bearcat Insider will have more on Jarrod and hope he makes a trip to the Bearcats summer camp this coming weekend.
