The Class of 2005 brought a super athlete from University of Detroit Jesuit (Detroit, MI) High School in Connor Barwin to the Bearcats program. While Barwin was considered a sleeper prospect around many recruiting circles, the Bearcats felt they achieved a major steal when they signed the talented TE/DE on national letter of intent day.
Now another Detroit Jesuit player has his sights on a Division One scholarship and the Bearcats are taking a look to see if they can find another hidden gem.
Ian Conyers, a 6-foot-1 190 pound athletic prospect who turns eyes when he takes the field made the trip down I-75 to visit and particapate in the Bearcats summer football camp. When he arrived at Colerain High School on Sunday he wasn't alone as former teammate and close friend Connor Barwin also made the trip so the Bearcats coaching staff would take a little more interest in the projected linebacker/safety.
Ian had the following to say in this special video interview about his recruiting and the University of Cincinnati.
*Note* - Bearcat Insider spoke with Connor Barwin about his trip down to camp and when he will report to Cincinnati to start his college career.
"I came down with my friend Ian today for camp. He's going to be a player and I wanted to show him what Cincinnati had to offer. I'm going to be headed down next week to start getting ready for next season. I can't wait to get started. I feel we have a young team but we'll have some talented players people have not heard about yet making big plays and helping us win."
As Connor watched Ian he noticed how he received a little extra attention from Coach Dantonio at the end of camp with some one-on-one work. While he didn't receive an offer on this day, it looked like Ian has all the tools to make it at the next level.
