Recruiting Update: Ohio OL Jarrod Smith

One of the top offensive lineman in Ohio in this years bumper crop. At one time no one had him rated anywhere near the top of this class. But after watching his film, he deserves to be named with the top Lineman in Ohio.

Scout.com caught up with Jarrod Smith, 6'4" 289 Fairborn H.S.(Ohio), an offensive lineman who has flown under the radar in a very deep class in Ohio.  We asked Smith about his recruitment thus far, and to let us know where he was in the process.  "Right now I am in West Lafayette, Indiana for the Purdue camp tomorrow."  Thus far Smith has camped at West Virginia, Miami (OH), and Indiana.   Will there be anymore camps this summer for Smith?  "Nope, Purdue is my final camp, I have enough offers."

Smith lists twelve offers so far from; Indiana, Cincinnati, Maryland, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Akron, Toledo, Ball State, Kent State, West Virginia, Toledo, and Ohio.

Smith also added that he has a leader.  "Indiana is my number one, they stand above the rest."  "Coach Hoeppner is a great coach, I really like the way the coaches treat their players."  "Plus Coach Hoeppner is a winner, and that's important to me."

When asked about Cincinnati and what were the chances the ‘Cats could land him? "I like Cincinnati a lot, the school is in a great location, and with them going into the Big East Conference they are now able to play for a BCS bowl birth and a shot at the National Championship."  "I also like Coach Dantonio and Coach Staten, they are the type of coaches I could see myself playing for."

When asked to compare himself to a bumper crop of Ohio offensive line prospects this year.  "My footwork is better than most of the lineman rated higher than me, I ran a 5.0 forty and a 4.5 shuttle at my last camp."  "I think I am one of the bet offensive lineman in Ohio."

When will Smith decide?  "Probably within a week or two, I want a chance to really sit down with my parents and figure out the best school for me."
