Several rumors have been running around web-sites saying former Xavier and current Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser had been contacted by the University about taking over at UC. These are just rumors that have no merit.
During the news conference on Wednesday, Mr. Bob Goin said he would sit back and look at what would be the right move to make before just jumping and naming a new coach. As of Wednesday night Coach Kennedy had not spoken with any UC officials about the job but it's believe he and Mr. Goin spoke during the early part of Thursday and Kennedy was offered and accepted the position.
Coach Kennedy has been on the Bearcats staff since 2001 and spearheaded much of the programs recruiting until his promotion to associate head coach in 2004.
The former prep Parade All-American first signed with North Carolina State where he played for legendary Wolf Pack Coach Jim Valvano in 1987. Coach Kennedy then moved to UBA where he became the schools number two all-time leading scorer.
