Bearcats land Ohio tailback

Back in January, was impressed by a virtually unknown tailback from Columbus, Ohio. It turned out that he missed his entire junior season due to an injured ankle that required surgery. He's back now, and he's a Bearcat.

Columbus (Ohio.) Independence running back Jacob Ramsey has become the fifth verbal pledge for the Cincinnati Bearcats class of 2006.

"I committed on the 30th of August to Cincinnati," Ramsey said. "I told them I was ready to be a part of the Bearcat family."

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound, tailback show the Bearcats over offers from Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Akron, Ohio, and Miami (Ohio.).

"Cincinnati is close tome and they have a few players from Independence already there,' he said. "I think I can go there and play early."

Ramsey suffered a season ending ankle injury last year and has been slow to get back on track, as Independence has dropped their first two games to Beechcroft and Upper Arlington.

"I twisted my good ankle in the first game, so I sat out last week," he said.
