News & Notes: South Florida

The surprise of the Big East is looking to make even more noise when the Bearcats enter Tampa for a Saturday match-up. Will the Bearcats spoil their success? Lets hope so! Here are the News & Notes put together by the UC SID Department and Bearcat Insider's Tim Adams.

-USF averages 235 yards per game on the ground which is good enough for 10th nationally.

-Andre Hall averages 124 rushing yards per game which puts him 4th in the nation. Hall was chosen as the Big East Co-Offensive Player of the Game after his 222 yards rushing against Syracuse.

-The Bulls are #18 in total defense surrendering only 306 yards per game. USF is #9 in sacks with 3.38 a game.

-South Florida likes to stay local with its recruiting. Only eight players on the roster are from outside the state of Florida.

-Ex-Bearcat linebacker Linwood Marshall will serve as the Bearcats' honorary captain. Marshall is a businessman in the Jacksonville area.

-The Bearcats have been outscored by 103 points this season but have 8 more first downs than their opponents.

-UC averages 3.5 yards per rush this year and give up 5.1 yards per carry. Greg Moore averages 4.9 yards per carry; Glatthaar-4.5 and Benton 4.4. Bradley Glatthaar has 122 attempts while Moore and Benton combine for 120 rushes.

-The Bearcats are -5 in turnovers while USF is +9.

-Dustin Grutza is -2 in his TD to interception ratio (8 TD &10 int.) with a 54.5 % completion percentage. His counterpart Saturday is Pat Julmiste who is just as average with a -1 TD to interception ratio (5 TD & 6 int.) with only a 52.1% completion percentage.

-The top receivers for UC are Derick Ross with 27, Earnest Jackson with 26, and Brent Celek with 25 catches.

-Corey Smith continues to lead the Bearcat defenders with 64 tackles with Haruki Nakamura only 1 tackle behind.

-Andre Hall enters the game with 988 yards rushing and should get his second consecutive 1,000 yards rushing season during the game. Hall averages 5.5 yards per carry.

-Sophomore linebacker Ben Moffitt #59 leads the Bulls in tackles with 63. Junior linebacker #51 Stephen Nicholas leads the squad in sacks with 6.

-The Bulls are averaging 40,616 in home attendance but had their smallest crowd of the year for Louisville with only 33, 586 fans.

-This game is the Big East Game of the Week and will be televised on ESPN Game Plan and will be shown locally by 19XIX at noon.
