Bearcats Find A "Treasure"

Junior guard gives Lady Bearcats a "Treasure" game to earn their second victory of the season.

Laurie Pirtle and the Lady Bearcats found a "treasure" Wednesday night on the court of Fifth Third Arena. With a career performance from junior guard Treasure Humphries, the Lady Bearcats found the spark needed to dispose of East Tennessee State 82-58. Humphries, a native of Canton, Ohio (McKinley H.S) scored nineteen points and pulled down eight boards.

The victory moved the Bearcats to 2-0 for the first time since the 2001-02 season. Other players who played key roles in the victory included Michelle Jones (13), Anne Stephens (12), Karen Twehues (11) and freshman Shelly Bellman who grabbed a game high 10 boards on the night.

Humphries also recorded four steals as the team swiped the ball of a total of eleven times on the night. But one area the team needs to work on is giving the ball away. For the night the Lady Bearcats turned the ball over 21 times.

The Bearcats will take the floor again on Saturday when Detroit will make the trip to Cincinnati for a 5:00 p.m. game in Fifth Third Arena.

For her performance against East Tennessee State, Treasure Humphries is Bearcat Insider's Player of the Game.
